About the Program
When everyone uses the internet for everything from paying bills to finding a relationship, shouldn’t we use it to help people stay sober longer?
Participants will gain insight and knowledge into e-recovery tools that will benefit employees helping to increase their chances to stay sober, their morale and quality of life. This will be achieved by also reviewing the underlying research, related evidence based outcomes to maintaining recovery. This presentation will examine with the participants how various websites are used and by whom when assessing and planning aftercare treatment. The structure of the presentation will be to present the material to the audience in a power point form, allowing for Q & A throughout the presentation.
Objectives
- Examine the efficacy of on line screening tools
- Review in depth sober social networking sites available
- Learn out specific sober supports currently available through the internet.
About the Presenter
Pablo McCabe, LCSW
Pablo McCabe is currently the eastern regional business development director for Hazelden Foundation. His background in training and clinical work contributes to the strength of his current role. Pablo’s experience includes presenting seminars and webinars; management of wellness and training within internal and external EAP programs. He has had the opportunity to research and create cutting edge seminars and trainings designed to educate and motivate audiences – including,
Fortune 500 companies, non-profits and professional associations. The topics have varied from multigenerational workforce issues to handling substance abuse in the workplace.
He has also worked in private practice with individual and couples addressing their mental health and recovery issues. His focus employed cognitive, psychodynamic and systems approaches when conducting therapeutic interventions. Pablo has worked in a variety of clinical settings, as well; including, work as a therapist and case-manager for an inpatient and outpatient dual diagnosis program conducting groups, family and individual sessions. As a case-manager, he was charged with locating resources for clients upon discharge to lower levels of care and running alumni focus groups.
Pablo received his undergraduate degree, a BA from McGill University. He then went on to receive his MSW from Smith College School for Social Work. He has held his clinical license since 1998.
